We pay uniformed off-duty City of Atlanta and DeKalb County police officers to provide extra patrols throughout Brookhaven and Club Forest.  The goal is still to deter crime but also to increase our security by making everyone aware of crime and suspicious activity in the neighborhood.

The Brookhaven Security Association collects, distributes and mails information about crime and suspicious activities in and around Brookhaven to all Security members.  By making you more aware of what is happening in Brookhaven, you are better prepared to protect your property.  Neighbors can then help to watch out for each other and call 911 for any suspicious activity.  Part of the yearly membership fee pays for these reports and mailings.

The Police Officers patrol in a marked vehicle and maintain contact with the 911-dispatch system via police scanner and radios.  Patrols are scheduled and timed to coincide with hours and days when crime is more likely to occur (around Christmas for example).  The more people who join, the more patrols we can afford. Everyone is expected to join. Your Brookhaven Security Membership provides the following:

  • Suspicious-looking or acting people are stopped, questioned, and escorted out of the neighborhood
  • Solicitors are escorted out of the neighborhood
  • First response to 911 calls, when on duty
  • Security Analysis by police officers
  • Vacationers' homes checked
  • Crime Watch reports emailed
  • Exclusive use of the Vacation Line
  • Brightly colored mailbox sticker to identify you as a Brookhaven Security Association member

Members may call the Brookhaven Security Association Vacation Line, 404-365-8196, leave vacation dates and the Patrol officers will check your home while you are away. Remember to stop you mail and newspapers.  See vacation contacts on page 157 of the directory for those numbers.
